Mark is the owner and principal broker of Boykin Realty, LLC, based in Richmond, Virginia. With nearly 35 years of extensive experience in the real estate industry, Mark has built a reputation for expertise across a diverse range of asset classes. His qualifications are bolstered by top industry designations, including the Senior Residential Appraiser (SRA) and Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI), which highlight his proficiency in both residential and commercial appraisal and valuation. Mark earned his bachelor's degree in Managerial Economics from Radford University and furthered his education in Real Estate at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).
Mark’s deep understanding of valuation principles and financial analysis allows him to maximize achievable prices and identify value-add opportunities. His expertise extends to assessing market opportunities and optimizing properties' highest and best use. By leveraging his awareness of market cycles, Mark excels in enhancing profits and ensuring that real estate assets are positioned advantageously within the market.
In addition to his analytical skills, Mark boasts an extensive network of national and international real estate professionals across all asset classes. His system for analytically determining the best partners for clients outside of Virginia and the US has been a significant asset. This network has enabled him to facilitate a wide range of referrals, including single-family homes, vacation properties, ghost kitchens, national rock-climbing facilities, timberland, agricultural properties, industrial facilities, and redevelopment opportunities that may benefit from historic tax credits and opportunity zones. Mark's ability to connect clients with the right resources and partners enhances their real estate ventures on a global scale.
Mark is also an active member of the VCU Real Estate Circle of Excellence and serves on the Hargrave Military Academy Alumni Board and Executive Committee. He has previously served as a Board Member of the Virginia Appraisal Institute and played a pivotal role in spearheading the acquisition of the former St. Michaels School for Riverside School in Bon Air, VA. Additionally, Mark is actively involved in the Children's Ministries at St. James Episcopal Church, reflecting his commitment to community service.
